A new summer festival, Summermusik, debuts in Cincinnati August 15-September 3.

Presented by the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the three-part event opens August 15 with “The Food of Love,” a concert featuring a collaborative work by the CCO and the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Guest artist will be 2015 National Chopin Competition winner Eric Lu, performing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Minor.

Also performing with the CCO will be soprano Sarah Coburn, the Faux Frenchmen, violinist Cho-Liang Lin and double bassist DaXun Zhang. All concerts will take place in SCPA’s Corbett Theater and will be preceded by free interactive Prelude Talks, hosted by CCO interim music director, Kelly Kuo.

There will also be a Sunday afternoon chamber series, “A Little Afternoon Music,” with concerts at Werner Recital Hall at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, the Mercantile Library downtown and Unwind Wine Bar in Hyde Park.

Finally, there will be four “Chamber Crawl” events at bars in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The latter will include a collaboration with Classical Revolution, the casual monthly series at Northside Tavern in Northside. "Chamber Crawl" will also feature the CCO’s MicroBrass and the Fab Five, a CCO string quartet to be joined by guitarist Roger Klug. (Each event will include a food or beverage add-on with the ticket price.)
Note: Opening night will be preceded by a gala, “The Food of Love Fête,” August 15 in the Music Hall Ballroom. Cocktail hour is at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:15 p.m. Information at
