Step in time, you might say.

Not only did conductor John Morris Russell and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra celebrate the music of Disney Friday night at Music Hall (including "Mary Poppins"), but JMR shared details of the upcoming season with audience.

There will be nine concerts during the 2012-2013 Music Hall season, beginning Sept. 14-16 with a whole lot of hoofing.  Dancing, that is, with guests from TV reality shows “So You Think You Can Dance?” “Dancing with the Stars” and “American Idol.”  Expect a variety of beats from pop, jazz and Latin to classical and Broadway.  The show will be directed and choreographed by “Dancing with the Stars” pro Louis van Amstel.

There will be music from superheroes flics and James Bond classics in October and November, and for the Pops holiday show, Grammy-Award-winning vocalist Amy Grant.

New York Pops conductor Steven Reineke – no stranger to Cincinnati for his long-time association with the Pops – will guest conduct a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald in January with guest artist Patti Austin.  Judy Collins will sing on a one-night-only concert in February, and the Chieftains will join Russell and the Pops for a St. Patrick’s Day fest in March.

In April, there will be music and moves by Michael Jackson, personified by James Delisco, while singer/actor Mandy Patinkin will close the season with his Pops debut.
