Gods and goddesses, i.e. divos and divas, are being recruited today (June 6) at Music Hall, where Cincinnati Opera’s “Opera Idol” search commences from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m..
A knight, Don Quixote de la Mancha, visits Madcap Puppet Theater and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra June 7 in Corbett Auditorium at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, with repeat (also June 7) at Anderson Center in Anderson township.
And scholars gather around to explore a deity of another kind, Richard Wagner, in a seminar on “Wagner and Cinema” at CCM, concluding today (June 6) with a round table discussion and concert featuring CCM faculty artists and a film by Tony Palmer.

“Opera Idol.”
June 6. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Music Hall. “American Idol”-style auditions for "Cincinnati’s next opera star.” Eligibility is limited to singers age 18 or above by June 5, 2009 from a 60-mile radius of Cincinnati. The preliminary auditions, judged by a team of opera experts, are being held on a first-come-first-served basis and are closed to the public. Ten to twelve semi-finalists will perform in a public event June 24 in Jarson-Kaplan Theater at the Aronoff Center. For details, see

“Wagner and Cinema Festival.”
