June may be bustin’ out all over, but it isn’t that long
before it’s back to school and with it, a new season for the performing arts.
Here’s what’s coming from three popular Greater Cincinnati presenters, the departments of opera, musical theater and drama at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, the Linton Chamber Music Series and Xavier University’s Piano and Guitar Series.

Subscriptions come in packages of six, four and three for either matinee (Saturday and Sunday) or evening (Wednesday-Saturday) performances. For matinees, prices are $144, $100 and $78. Evenings are $156, $108 and $84. Single tickets are $29 for adults and $19 for students. There will be preview performances of ”The Matchmaker” and “Our Town” for $11 each and of “Evita” for $22. The Linton Chamber Music Series will present six concerts at First Unitarian Church in Avondale during the 2010-11 season. Four of them repeat (Encore Linton) in Congregation Beth Adam in Loveland.
The season opens Oct. 17 and 18 with Ellen Taaffe Zwilich’s Septet for Piano Trio and String Quartet performed by the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio (which commissioned the work) and the Miami String Quartet.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of Congregation Beth Adam, Linton co-artistic directors Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson (violin and cello) will be joined by violinist Benny Kim, violists Ida Kavafian and Michael Tree and cellist Eric Kim in the Sextet for Strings by Erwin Schulhoff. Other special guests include pianists Andre Watts and Stewart Goodyear.

Xavier University’s Piano and Guitar Series opens at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 19 in Gallagher Student Center Theater on the Xavier campus with pianist Thomas Tirino in a program of South American, Central American and Caribbean classical music.
