Held concurrently with Music08, June 15-21 at CCM, are Accent08
and Crescendo08.
Accent08 is a
chamber music festival for college age and advanced high school musicians. Crescendo08, the young musicians division of
Accent08, is geared for high school and middle school students.
Accent08 and
Crescendo08 share the same faculty of CCM and guest artists and have some
classes in common. (Accent08 and Music08 overlap in composition studies and
also have some faculty in common).
Accent08 and
Crescendo08 offer chamber music and private lessons, classes in composition,
improvisation, music history and theory, concerto competitions and ensemble
activities, including advanced orchestra led by Dayton Philharmonic music
director Neal Gittleman, and a percussion ensemble led by CCM faculty
percussionist James Culley.
Student concerts
are held through the week. Final
concerts are June 21.
Although
registration for participants has closed, most events are free and open to the
public. beginning with an hour-long faculty recital at 5:20 p.m. June 15 in
CCM’s Cohen Family Studio Theater. Artistic
director of Accent08 is Dorotea Vismara Hoffman.
