How do you get to Carnegie Hall?  For the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, by way of tiny Danville, Kentucky (population 15,643)  September 27, when they made their debut led by star conductor Gustavo Dudamel in the Norton Center for the Performing Arts at Danville's Centre College.

The orchestra makes only one other stop on this visit to the U.S., New York's Carnegie Hall, where they perform September 29-October 3.  Venezuelan born Dudamel, recently appointed music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will conduct the October 2 and 3 Carnegie Hall concerts.  Famed conductor Nicholas Harnoncourt opens the Carnegie Hall season with the orchestra and pianist Lang Lang September 29 and 30.

The event in Danville was covered from conception to conclusion by the Lexington Herald-Leader's Rich Copley and reviewed by Loren Tice for www.kentucky.com
