Attendance at Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra concerts for the first half of the 2000-01 season has grown by 5 percent over this time last year, according to a mid-season CSO sales report. This includes subscriptions, single ticket and group sales.

Figures released by the CSO show double-digit increases in some categories:

Attendance by single ticket buyers is up 18.7 percent. The number of full-price single tickets sold has risen by 36.8 percent.

Group sales (defined as 10 or more people) have increased 54 percent.

Thursday evening concerts posted an average increase per concert of 17.2 percent.

In addition, the CSO's December "Home for the Holidays" show at the Taft Theater, which was expanded to six shows this season (over four in 1999) saw increased attendance of 24 percent.

Average attendance was 1,770 per show.

CSO calculations compared average per-concert attendance for 2000-01 to the end of the calendar year with average per-concert figures from the same time last season.
